Walk In My Shoes
I developed Walk in My Shoes, a digital storytelling workshop for immigrant and refugee teen girls. I was also assistant producer on KALW's student documentary series on immigration, "Waking up From the American Dream."
Walk in My Shoes invited immigrant and refugee teen girls to share their stories in radio, photography, and literary maps in addition to writing
Two students learn mic skills under the watchful eye of Youth Radio instructors, who later shared their experiences
Completed, hand-bound stacks of Walk in My Shoes chapbooks, to share student poetry and prose with their communities in a tangible form
The story of one refugee teen's fight for healthcare, as written for KALW student documentary series "Waking Up From the American Dream"
The idea of immigrants becoming neighbors is at the heart of my work, my personal story, and my choice to make Oakland home.
